Congress Leaves 2.83% Medicare Physician Payment Cut in Place for 2025
Provided by MCMS AdministrationThe new year is starting with Congress failing to correct a flawed Medicare Physician Payment System. At the last minute, Congress passed the continuing resolution to keep the government funded through March 2025, however, it left in place the 2.83% Medicare physician payment cut. The results of this will leave patients struggling to access healthcare and the possibility of physicians closing or selling their private practices or maybe even leaving the profession. This year’s cut adds to a continuing history, leaving Medicare payment rates to have fallen 33% over the past twenty years. The efforts must now focus on finding long-term solutions to fix this system. The American Medical Association supports several ideas and you can find more information on this here.
